Child Contact Centre | Conference & Training Room
Safe House
A purpose built Safe House is provided with disabled facilities for clients to access in emergency situations (crisis) or just for a rest, or time to heal. The house itself is set in 3/4 of an acre of landscaped gardens and is furnished and decorated to a very high standard.
All rooms have TV and are used by a single family unit, all other facilities are shared. A phone box is provided in addition to cooking and washing facilities.
The children benefit from a light airy room which is co-ordinated by the MFCC's Child Worker. The Child Worker is responsible for the provision of play sessions, support for mothers, educational trips and outings and any other identified requirement.
Women may request housing benefit from the local authority to pay the rent. Rental income contributes toward the cost of running the Safe House.
Counselling can be provided on request, as can personal support for client contact with Doctors, Solicitors and other agencies. MFCC will endeavour to meet any support request that is relevant to client need.
The Safe house is available for women and their children only.
Community/Drop in Centres
This confidential service provides support for the victims of domestic violence who need after care when leaving the Safe House. The facility is also available for families who need support in their own homes or may wish to visit one of the Drop in Centres based in Newtown and Welshpool.
The Newtown Drop in Centre also functions as the administrative office for the MFCC organisation and the base for organisation meetings and training.
Clients may call to to book appointments, receive information regarding legal issues, housing benefit, counselling and any other resources at our disposal.
MFCC recognises that male victims have previously had no agency to turn to for support. Toward that end we consider it appropriate that the organisation should apply its unique skills to all victims of domestic violence and that this is the way forward for the year 2000.
Any male who feels that they need to chat, or need crisis help, can access, and receive the same, service as women. A male support worker is available if required.
Confidentiality is always respected except when child protection procedures may be compromised.
