Refuge Accommodation
MFCC have been providing a refuge service for those escaping domestic abuse for over 40 years and over this period we have improved and expanded our refuge service to that of a very high standard of accommodation suitable for all.
MFCC have five refuges in the North Powys area and these properties are emergency, temporary, confidential and comfortable accommodation suitable for those escaping domestic abuse.
Three of the refuges have been developed specifically as safe spaces for women and women with children.
One refuge has been specifically built for men or men with children and one refuge is gender neutral and suitable for all.
The Haven
The Haven is a large secure property accommodating up to 4 women or women with children. Each family will have their own bedroom and the rest of the facilities are shared including large grounds and play room. Staff have an office base within this refuge.
Ty Coed and Ty Bedw
Ty Coed and Ty Bedw are disability friendly 2 bedroomed bungalows, each accommodating 1 woman or 1 female led family. Both have their own garden and Ty Coed includes a pet enclosure and kennel.
Davis House
Davis House is a large secure property accommodating up to 4 men or men with children. Each family will have their own bedroom and the rest of the facilities are shared including garden and play room. Staff have an office base within this refuge.
Meadow House
Meadow House is a 3 bedroomed property accommodating either a female, male or gender neutral led family. This property has it’s own secure garden which includes a pet enclosure and kennel.
The refuges provide a safe, comfortable, therapeutic and supporting environment that will give families the time and opportunity to make informed decisions and plans about their future. On arrival families receive welcome packs of food and toiletries and there are Buddy Bags waiting for every child that arrives.
The dedicated refuge team provide 1 emotional and practical support including co-development of safety and support plans.

- Benefits
- Legal and family law
- Accessing schools and nurseries
- Accessing health
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Signposting and referring to other specialist services
- Group programmes
- Training and education
- Peer groups
- Group social activities
- Dedicated children and young people support
- Children and young people group activities
The refuge team will also support you and your family when moving on from refuge, either when securing a new tenancy or returning to your home when it is safe to do so.
