Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA) Services

The five specialist domestic abuse agencies in the Dyfed Powys Region, MFCC, Calan DVS, CarmDAS, Threshold DAS and West Wales Domestic Abuse Service have collaborated to form the Dal I Godi partnership and as a partnership secured the contract for the Independent Domestic Violence Advisory (IDVA) Services.

The main purpose of the IDVA service is to address the safety of victims at high risk of harm from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members, to secure their safety and the safety of their children. Serving as the victim’s primary point of contact, IDVAs will work with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop individual safety and support plans. The service will be independent, inclusive, confidential and flexible to meet all individual circumstances ensuring a trauma informed approach. They will seek ways to empower you to make positive safe choices and they will liaise with other professionals on your behalf.

They will assess risk, co-develop safety plans and their support could include help for you through a court process, help to access safe accommodation and advocate on your behalf.
