Keeping Safe

If you are thinking about leaving an abusive situation a safety plan can help protect and increase the safety of yourself and any children you are responsible for.
Actions to consider in a safety plan:
- Contact MFCC 01686629114 or the Live Fear Free Helpline 08088010800 and ask for support
- If possible confide in a trusted neighbour and ask them to call the police if they ever hear a violent attack
- Teach your children how to call 999 in an emergency, including knowing what they would need to say i.e. their full name and address
- Keep all your important documents, such as medical information, passports, driving licence etc, safely in one place alongside a small amount of money in case you need to leave in a hurry
- Keep your mobile with you, keep it charged with important numbers on speed dial
- If possible pack an emergency bag for yourself and your children and hide it somewhere safe, or with someone you trust if that is not possible
- Plan ahead, consider where you would go or who you would contact if you ever had to leave in an emergency
